Susan is a partner in Millman Law Firm’s Estate Planning, Probate and Trusts Department. Her practice is concentrated in the fields of estate planning, probate and trust administration, and guardianship.
Susan was appointed as Guardian ad litem for two lost heirs who were missing for over thirty years and could not be found despite the hiring of genealogical and detective services. Through her diligent research she was able to locate the heirs. Susan successfully litigated guardianship hearings, both contested and uncontested. She has had significant training in dealing with the elderly and clients find that her sensitivity and warmth are very helpful at stressful times. Susan often works with the firm’s elderly clients in facilitating asset protection plans and as an intermediary with nursing homes.
Susan has been the head of the Probate Department at Millman Law Firm since the firm’s inception and has probated estates of all sizes in the entire New York metropolitan area as well as in Florida.
Susan is a member of the New York State Bar Association and serves as a member of the Trusts and Estates Committee, the Westchester County Bar Association and the Westchester County Women’s Bar Association.
In addition to the law, Susan is involved in community service. She presently sits on the Board of Directors for The Guidance Center in New Rochelle, New York and is very involved in My Sister’s Place, an organization that combats domestic violence.
Susan provides pro bono legal services for My Sister’s Place. Susan is a graduate of University of Vermont (B.S. cum laude, College Honors) 1974 and holds a Masters Degree in Social Work from Washington University in St Louis, Missouri. She is an LCSW, licensed certified social worker and received her J.D. from Hofstra University in 1981.
